The OLD MUTUAL MUSIC IN THE GARDENS SERIES invites
families to join in the Christmas cheer at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens on
the evening of 8 December
The BTE VO1SS, formerly known as The Black Tie Ensemble, will perform
together with the Field Band Foundation and the internationally acclaimed Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Summer holidays are calling and many are looking
forward to special days like Christmas to gather around the tree and open gifts
from their loved ones. For others, the festive season will just be another
moment in time when gifts remain a fantasy. But the Jakaranda Child and Family
Care Centre, caring for children up to the age of 18, has hope that proceeds
from this year’s Old Mutual Carols by Candlelight will brighten its children’s
festive season.
The OLD MUTUAL MUSIC IN THE GARDENS SERIES invites
families to join in the Christmas cheer at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens on
the evening of 8 December 2012. The BTE VO1SS, formerly known as The Black Tie
Ensemble, will perform together with the Field Band Foundation and the internationally
acclaimed Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Since its formation in 1999, the BTE V01SS has focused
on developing and nurturing South African artists, both professionals and
beginners. Their unique approach to music has propelled them to the top of the
classical music genre, with numerous awards and performances in countries such
as Austria, Zambia, Japan, Namibia and China.
Bandile Mngoma, sponsorships manager at Old Mutual,
says: “This is a celebratory show that promises to ignite the spirit of unity,
giving and appreciation among people. We encourage families to attend the Old
Mutual Carols by Candlelight, enjoy the natural beauty of the gardens and the magical
moments it will bring to make this an unforgettable experience.”
In what certainly promises to be an enchanting evening
of music and dance, the Field Band Foundation will kick off proceedings with
one of their perfectly choreographed marches. “This band is also passionate
about skills development for youth and spends time incorporating an
after-school programme of music and dance,” adds Mngoma.
Tickets for the concert are available at
www.ticketbreak.co.za at a cost of R50. Children under 13 are free and stand a
chance to receive Christmas-themed goodies. Gates will open at 18h00 and the concert
will end around 20h15. Everyone is welcome to bring picnic baskets and
blankets. On-site restaurant and tea garden available. Both serve alcoholic
beverages.
Old Mutual will donate proceeds from this concert to
the Jakaranda Child and Family Care Centre in Pretoria. The centre’s main
objective is to protect, care and develop children who have been subjected to
trauma, abuse, molestation, poverty and neglect. In keeping with the spirit of
giving, concert-goers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and
toiletries to the concert.
These will be donated to the centre to help make the
children’s festive season a joyful one.
On behalf of Old Mutual, we would like to offer 10
sets of double tickets to our readers.
